Where do I access the "Defence Counsel" e-Service?

The e-Service can be accessed from the CNB Internet Portal and look for e-services link at the bottom of the page. Click on Defence Counsel to access the portal. You would need to log in using your Singpass account.

 

What do I need to log on to the e-Service?

While Singpass is used for logins, users have to be authorised through entity's Corppass account. If you are not authorised to access the e-Service, please contact Corppass Admin of your entity.

How do I register a Law Firm with CNB?

If the Law Firm has not been registered, upon accessing the e-Service, you will be prompted to register the Law Firm by providing the necessary information such as the name, address and list of defence counsels of the law firm.

Within a Law Firm, at least one and up to two administrators can be assigned for the law firm. An administrator will be able to maintain the law firm details and list of defence counsel.

After the Law Firm has been registered, all administrator(s) and defence counsel(s) listed in the law firm will be able to submit and update Defence Counsel requests.

How do I update the details of the Law Firm?

To update the details of the Law Firm, click on the "Update Law Firm and DC Details" button. Amend the necessary details before clicking "Next" and "Submit" to confirm the changes.

Who can update the details of the Law Firm?

Personnel with a Corppass account for the Law Firm and has the "Administrator" role assigned in DC e-Service will be able to update details of the Law Firm.

Only a maximum of two "Administrator" can be assigned.

Can I retain a copy of my registration record?

You can click on the Print or Download button on the top right hand side of the Acknowledgement page after you have successfully registered a new Law Firm or updated its details.

What kind of functions can I perform on the Defence Counsel e-Service?

You will be able to perform the following functions:
a.Register a Law Firm

b.Update Law Firm Details

c.Submit Legal Document Request

d.Verify status and follow up on submitted Legal Document Request

e.Submit VRI Request

f.Verify status and follow up on submitted VRI Request

How do I submit a Legal Document Request?

To submit a new Legal Document Request, click on the "Request for Legal Document" button. You will be required to provide the defence counsel's details, client's details and requesting documents.

How do I submit a VRI Request?

To submit a new VRI Request, click on the "Request for VRI Viewing" button. You will be required to provide defence counsel's detail, client's details and indicate a preferred date and time to view the VRI.

How do I view the details of my submitted request?

To view the details of the submitted request, first identify the record on the landing page. Next, click on the "acknowledgement no." link and you will be redirected to page with all the details displayed.

Who can view/update the details of my submitted request?

Personnel with a Corppass account and authorised by their Law Firm will be able to view/update details of the submitted request.

Can I retain a copy of my submitted request(s)?

You can click on the Print or Download button on the top right hand side of the Acknowledgement page after you have successfully submitted new request or updated the details for any request.

You can also click on the Print or Download button on the top right hand side when you are viewing the request details' page.

How do I update a submitted request?

You cannot update the details of the request once it has been submitted, you may however be required to follow up on the request depending on the request status.

Should follow up action be required from you, the request status will be indicated as:
a."Response Required": View the instruction/clarification stated in the remarks and email/respond back to the CNB Officer.

b."Pending Search Fee": Complete the search fee payment by scanning the QR Code generated for the request and click "Acknowledgement Payment" once done. Should you required further assistance, click on the "Request for assistance" button instead.

c."Approved - Payment Required": Complete the document fee payment by scanning the QR Code generated for the request and click "Acknowledgement Payment" once done. Should you required further assistance, click on the "Request for assistance" button instead.

d."Approved - Ready For Download": The request documents has been approved and is available for download.

e."Approved - VRI Scheduled": The VRI Viewing request has been approved, click open the request to view the instructions provided by the CNB officers.

My approved legal document is no longer available on the system, how should I retrieve it?

Please note that there is a 14 days window period as of when it was released, where your approved legal documents will be available for download. After the 14 days window, the request will be removed from the system.
